Gisborne Mayor urges locals get tested after wastewater result

Gisborne Mayor Rehette Stoltz has told Checkpoint Tairawhiti locals are being urged to get tested for Covid-19 after another positive result in wastewater testing. "We have asked the government to do daily [wastewater] testing, just so that we can be assured." The test results came from the wastewater plant, but they are now looking at doing testing at neighbourhood pump stations. Stoltz said there are about eight of those. "There are different reasons why people might not come forward, but we urging everyone - our friendly help teams - they were not interested in anything but to know if you are positive or not… so we asking our whanau please come forward. It's a safe space."
