“I love the Podcast but the GTS episode has a few inaccuracies in it…which when you are claiming to be a Porsche nerd it’s important to get these things right.
997 GTS did have a leather dash with Alcantara (some don’t but it was available)
991.1 GTS is not wide body. The only wide body 2wd 991’s are the Turbo and RS. The GTS like the GT3 is a half way house. The 997 GTS is a genuine wide body like the 997.2 RS.
When talking about the 991.1 you forgot to mention it has the first gen electric steering which is perhaps the worst steering on any water cooled 911. Also the 991.1 wasn’t available with RWS, later in the episode you rave about RWS !
991.1 does have the induction noise but the uprated chassis and torque of the 991.2 make it a better drivers car. The 997 GTS is all about the manual gearbox, the marriage of that naturally aspirated engine with a great six speed manual gearbox is what makes the 997 GTS a great car, which to my knowledge can’t be bought in manual form for £65k as you say in the episode ! Oh and whilst we’re talking gearboxes the 7 speed in the 991 isn’t a great unit even when it was improved for the GTS.
GTS is definitely as the majority conclude an improved Carrera and not a Junior GT3.”
