In Many Ways, the Perfect Show
Expertise is the minimum requirement for an interesting podcast, and Saga Thing's hosts, Dr. Andrew Phrenger and Dr. John P. Sexton, are both knowledgeable and diligent scholars of medieval literature, but the show doesn't just inform. John and Andy have great chemistry, which they use to spark engaging, well-paced, and relatable conversations about medieval Scandinavian lore, culture, and history and the academic world surrounding it. They may sometimes stray off-topic, but just enough so we get to know them as people without derailing the episode. They have a huge respect for their comminuty. They remain fun and relatable while delivering very scholarly insights. After binging this series, I feel like I better understand literature studies in general and the Icelandic sagas in particular. I will probably listen to the whole thing again. Give it a shot, it may just scratch your nerdy itch!Read full review »

Inteligent, informative, with just the right amount of Monty Python references and silly accents, this podcast...Read full review »
