Talking About ‘Things’ Matters
Writing as a former student of one of the Saga Thing chieftain’s. Also writing as a PhD student in Medieval Studies. Clearly biased, but also approaching with scrutiny as I have been taught to do! That being said ... I only have a glowing review. “Saga Thing” is a carefully weighed balance of wit and information. With the recent interest in Norse culture via “Vikings,” I encourage folks interested to listen to “Saga Thing.” It is a lively discussion of the literature that grew out of Viking society, as well as a literature that both respects and challenges that society. John and Andy really pick apart the stories and reassemble them - for many of the sagas I have already read, I think of them in a slightly different light after listening to their remarks. Great for long, solo travel journeys when you need some company in the car or on the airplane. “Saga Thing” is scholarship with a lemon wedge of good humor. Listen, learn, laugh. Rinse, repeat.

More reviews of Saga Thing
I found this podcast while I was reading a few sagas to get ready for a trip I was taking to Iceland. Thank goodness I did! They helped get me hooked on the sagas, and everything I learned in the process really enhanced my trip. Not to mention these guys are *hilarious*. My current favorite podcast.
