immersive & a bit addictive!
This is a really excellent and accessible intro to an area of history & literature I knew almost nothing about - the two hosts manage a perfect balance of nerdery and irreverence to make you feel that you’ve come away having learned heaps without having to put in much effort. I picked up a book of Icelandic sagas before a holiday this summer and found them a bit… intimidating? indigestible? so went looking for something to break me in gently, saw a recommendation for this podcast, listened to about 10 minutes before downloading the whole thing and becoming totally addicted. Thoroughly recommended (caveat: I’m also an academic historian & may be a bit envious of the skill required to produce public-facing stuff like this).
