If you can’t afford to do a podcast, don’t do it you guys interrupt the show for ad revenue and still, you are begging your listeners for more money the state of the economy.

I would let Justin be my full time doctor for sure.

I completely disagree with the reviewers who think this show has “become political.” They are no doubt referring to medical subjects such as gender-affirming care, chromosome variations, and abortion access. I actually really appreciate that these subjects were addressed from the medical...Read full review »

I’ve learned so much from your show and y’all are wonderful and hilarious. I love how you raise awareness on social issues, integrate inclusive language, and provide support for all identities or differently situated people. This one podcast checks all the boxes!

Even after all of my own experiences in the medical field, it still surprises me just how dumb humans can be at scale. The show makes the depressing realization that we're all idiots much more palatable, thank you!Read full review »

Such a good podcast, especially the early episodes that include more of the medical history side.

This is my favorite podcast of all time. Focus on truth and learning while being entertaining. With the additional bonus of Dr Sydnee being a women.

I love this podcast soooo much it is absolutely hilarious. I love Justin, great guy keep up the corny jokes love them. I have just a few suggestions first I would like more warnings about the topics that they talk about, because I don’t want to hear a detailed description of a woman’s parts. also...Read full review »

Early episodes are entertaining. Not so much now. Feels like they changed direction and agenda.

This show was way better before it became “politically” right

I love this show‘s focus on the scientific basis behind therapies. I’ve had good success with acupuncture, personally, but I admit it’s hard to study objectively! And as a molecular biologist, I really appreciate solid evidence. Love learning about the historical stuff people got up to and how a...Read full review »

i referenced pliney the elder/natural history in it and sawbones is the only reason i know abt him 😔😔 genuinely really good though! i love the mcelroys, they’re super funny and (in this case) informative. i’ve learned so many random trivia facts from this show. hope to see them live someday!...Read full review »

I always knew these folks were radical but I don’t think I understood until this episode the depth of it, the compassion and active, living work that Justin, and especially Sydnee, are doing. Worked for a global charity that donated medicines, the way pharma companies are propped up via the np system is SICK. Pardon the expression. Love your show <3

The show is entertaining & I believe that Dr. Sydney tries to present topics in a scientific way. The balance between medical topics & lighthearted humor is great. However, I’ve heard them mock many holistic therapies as “having no evidence”, when that is objectively not true. Just...Read full review »

And probably my favorite! I tell everyone I know about this show and you should too. Sydnee and Justin do such a great job with this show; I’m so glad I found it. Medical history fans, this ones for you. And remember, don’t drill a hole in your head

I started listening to Sawbones from an interesting episode on the history of wine in medicine. After listening to Fournier’s Gangrene episode, I have decided to unfollow. Love the pod, especially the older episodes that are more historically based. Not as much of a fan of the current news vibe, but I understand the necessity.

Love love love this show, downloaded literally 100 episodes and listened to them back to back. They used Dr. Molly Jones-Lewis’s research in the ‘Snakes’ episode but didn’t cite her. The article they did not cite is “Tribal Identity in the Roman World: the case of the Psylloi”

I really enjoyed their older episodes on deep dives into history. Lately however, it’s been more politically biased. Very disappointing. I’m a physician myself and have to question jumping on the train of what’s popular and not necessarily what should be happening.
ANMBell via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/14/23
Don’t bother with this podcast. Justin was and will always be annoying—but you can look past it. However, it went from interesting medical history or oddities of science to bias, political, non-medical backed information. Almost propaganda ish. That pretty much does it for me on this podcast. I’ll be unsubscribing - you have to believe basic biology in order to be a credible doctor.

I loved this podcast when it was about weird history of medicine. It was fun and entertaining. But now?? Too political. Too woke. Absolutely adore this podcast! I love the episodes that go deep into Pliny the Elder’s, uhhhhh, choices, and while I wish we weren’t living in a time when medicine was being politicized and weaponized by the right, I appreciate the coverage of current medical history-in-the-making. Their most recent episode on Gender Affirming Care for Minors moved me to tears. People have no idea how much this means to not only trans people but also their loved ones. I just can’t take a doctor seriously who pretends to be all about science but then ignores basic biology in favor of bowing to transgender activism.

The hosts are charismatic and it’s an easy listen podcast. However, Dr. Sydnee will often speak confidently about topics in which she clearly has no expertise or sufficient research.
