Good content, poor sound engineering.
The good: As both someone interested in the sciences, and beer, I am firmly within the podcasts target demographic. The hosts have a good knowledge base and passion about the subject matter, and yet are also laid back and have a good time. The iffy: Tangents and non-sequiters can be endearing, but also distracting or just downright annoying. While I understand the conversational approach, perhaps more structure is called for. Vigorous writing is concise, and that goes double for spoken-word media. Perhaps with practice you will gain a mastery of radio/podcasting. The ugly: The sound quality. I don't know what is going on tech-wise on the recording side of things. But the main factor stopping me from giving this podcast a rating higher than three stars is the fact that the sound quality is so inconsistent. I don't mean to compare this to other shows, but sometimes I skip listening to this podcast altogether just because the recording quality is so horrendous. It sounds like you are all trying to record with can-and-string telephones. Or like you are shouting into a cheap cassette recorder while sitting inside a porta-john. If you need to upgrade your equipment you should consider a pledge drive or something. I'd throw a few dollars your way if it would get professional sounding results.Read full review »

Plus if you...Read full review »

I listen to a couple of these sort of podcasts where people talk about science, or they are making fun of science to be funny. But these guys are amazing, I am actually learning scientific stuff because not only are they brilliant, but they have legitimate science-y guests. And they are funny and...Read full review »

As a devoted skeptic (and 13 year old) I find this podcast to be a fun romp through geek culture, stoping to strike down pseudoscience on the way! These well informed students are better informed than the newspaper, funnier than the funniest comedian, and always finding the right guest. Bring...Read full review »
