“Let’s be clear, the stigma of criminality surrounding drug use is not the act of taking the drug, it’s what the drug addict does to get another dose and what they do while they’re out of their minds on drugs. I had a family member who was a drug addict, he was a thief and robber who would steal a starving child’s only meal if it meant he could use it to buy drugs. He was constantly in jail and prison, not for his drug use but for his constant thievery. He’s dead now, and thank god. He stole and he robbed and he had no remorse. His drug was his god and everyone else be damned.”
