Vanessa is great, but Greg sounds unnatural
I really like the 60-Minutes style delivery of this True Crime podcast. However, Greg sounds very unnatural. It has an almost robotic sound to it, as if it were generated by deep fake/AI software (the kind you feed a few hours of your voice into and it spits out very believable voicing for whatever you want it to say). The speech patterns just don’t sound like natural human speech. There are very few inflections, speed variations, and pitch changes. A lot of times in English sentences, a person’s pitch might go up on the final syllable before a comma, then end the whole sentence on a down pitch. But the majority of Greg’s sentences, including compound sentences, have a downward pitch to the ending, which just sounds very strange to my ears. It’s just off enough to sound uncanny valley. Vanessa’s lines sound like a news reporter’s voice. But I’m just not getting that human feel from Greg’s lines.

Enjoyed the first two episodes, the main narrator is fantastic and the script is well written. Not too contrived with the "flashback" or re-inactments which add an extra dimension to the stories. Knocked of a star due to the expert sounding like she's reading her script for the...Read full review »
