Fabulous Fantasy
Great serial fiction! Fabulous characters, fun mischief, queer representation.
I love the characters and worlds she returns to in multiple stories, especially Belladonna U, Dragon Circus, Teacup Isles, and Castle Charming.
It’s fun seeing the different time periods and universes Tansy Rayner Roberts creates.
Also her voice is excellent at evoking the characters and drawing you into the story.
I love re-listening when I’m looking for a comfort listen, and have really appreciated this podcast when looking for a break from worries about COVID and everything going on in the world.
Charming Joy
Tansy’s characters exist in worlds were homophobia, ableism, and sexism matter and can be acknowledged—in the course of getting on with their own far more interesting lives with the people who matter. This is the podcast I turn to for comfort from pain or nightmares, for sharing a glimpse of my own brightest, most social world with the people I love, and to keep myself connected to the energy of geeky, creative play with stories and tropes, histories and shiny newness, friendship and queerness and love. It is one of many favorites, but it’s the only one I listen to again and again.
Charming and Enjoyable
Tansy's writing is clever and satisfying, but never overdone. She has a perfect "Mom voice" for reading aloud as well, and the short episodes are perfect for binging. Fake Geek Girl is my favorite, but there really aren't any losers here.
