A perfect memory
My favourite people to dive deeply into books from decades ago I've never read in interesting and entertaining ways are joined by one of my favourite former video game journalists slash actual play podcast hosts, Austin Walker? And they start of with a complex dying earth sci fi series of books I have never heard of, which grows more and more transparently christian with every book? Perfect. Give me all of that. Now, having praised this podcast as I should, I do have to add a little correction for the latest episode: I, like Severian, am cursed with a perfect memory. Unlike Severian, my memory is only perfect as it relates to the 2014 Paul Thomas Anderson film Inherent Vice. So it falls to me to add, respectfully, that the scene where Josh Brolin loudly demands more japanese pancakes (and then procedes to explain to the stoner detective protagonist played by Joaquin Phoenix that the pancakes aren't as good as the ones his mother used to make and that what he really comes here for is the respect) is in Inherent Vice, not in The Master. You shouldn't watch any of them though, until the AMPTP decide to finally get their act together and pay the actors fairly so that they can get back to work. Just listen to more Ranged Touch podcasts instead. And Friends at the Table, of course.Read full review »

Thankfully, I now know that the way to contain Future Stalin is to place him inside a...Read full review »
