Cape Jaffa lighthouse then and now
A fear of heights is not fit for a lighthouse keeper. Especially the men who kept the fire burning at Cape Jaffa for one hundred years protecting ships from the most treacherous of currents. Standing 41 metres tall, the Cape Jaffa lighthouse now rests on Marine Parade in the seaside town of Kingston, in South Australia's South East. It has been preserved as a museum to show tourists what life was like on the platform. Old Cleveland Point Lighthouse
The Old Cleveland Point Lighthouse was built between 1864-1865 on Cleveland Point, South of Brisbane. One of Queensland's earliest lighthouses, it was erected to light the way for small coastal steamers that serviced the farming settlements along the south coast of Moreton Bay.
