Sh*t we do for love, is for good girls who grew up to be people pleasers and are ready to stop putting yourself last for love.

Humans are born hardwired to need love and connection. But by the time we’ve grown up most of us have a subconscious fear that we’re not really good enough to be loved. This podcast delves into the gap between what we need vs what we secretly think of ourselves and all the weird behavior we get into because of it - Like never really speaking your mind, endless procrastination, saying yes when you mean no, and suffocating your big dreams under a pile of laundry and paperwork.

You’ll get self-love tips from a panel of experts that have nothing to do with bubble baths, cupcakes or glitter pens because you’re a grown woman and not 9 years old.

Instead, we get into some useful stuff like how to say no, stand up for yourself, love your body (can you imagine), set firm boundaries, make money without feeling guilty, build a business or career that loves you back, and reduce mind crushing anxiety.

Sh*t We Do for Love is brought to you by Wendy Windle, a certified life coach, meditation teacher and nosey parker. After decades of falling flat on her tits, making stupid mistakes and loving the wrong people, she’s figured out that self love is the only spiritual practice that counts. Now she helps her clients to build a life they love by being their own best friend.

    Fitting in, otherness and empowerment

    Fitting in, otherness and empowerment

We are pack animals and we signify to each other who we belong to and who we don’t. It can be as simple as Not being able to wear Hi Tec trainers at school because the cool kids wear Nike.

But what if you don't fit in because of the colour of your skin? What if the parts of your identity make you unable to fit in? What if the only box you can tick on a form is “Other”?

Arissan Nicole gives us her point of view on trying to fit in when no one thinks you belong to where you’re from. We discuss:

What are microaggressions and how do they affect people?
The extra load on persons of colour to just be enough
What’s it like to look for validation when the answer is always no?
Why finding you confidence on the inside is the only lasting way to self love
The truth you probably don’t want to hear about a self love journey
Arissan shares how accepting her identity and talking about the things she feared the most paved her road to self love.

You can’t belong anywhere until you belong to yourself first. - Arissan Nicole

The episode is powerful. Arissan talks us through the key questions and exercises that helped her to confront the question: Who am I living my life for?

There is so much about this amazing human that we don’t even touch in this episode - like she’s a 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo! So I encourage you to connect and find out more about her - especially if you're stuck in a job you hate.

    Permission to be you

    Permission to be you

    Notes:

There’s a theory that back in our hunter gatherer days, it was more important for women to be secure in a group or we’d risk getting fed to a passing bear. Could this explain why we sometimes feel like we are waiting for permission to do the things we know we want to try?

If you’re held back by invisible forces or worried about what other people will think if you quit your job, date that person, or say no when the correct answer appears to be yes, Love, this is for you.

    Discover:

Why we hold back waiting to see what others think first
The high cost you are paying for waiting for permission
The simple way to claim back your freedom

Necessary Conversations

Love how Wendy goes straight to the truth that is not often discussed. It is so refreshing to hear out loud what we all feel and think, even without realizing. It feels so easy to be open and vulnerable with her. Even if you listen to only one episode, you will already become a better ally to your self.
