“I was intrigued by the premise of this podcast originally: exploring the inner workings of the sibling relationship. But I should have known celebrity hosts would only interview other celebrities. And two at a time at that. Though having only two at a time is easier, you are not getting the full dynamic of the relationship with families that have more than one sibling. You are also getting a very pigeon-holed perspective since they are mostly interviewing high-profile athletes or actors. For example, the Dakota and Elle Fanning interview was completely unbelievable: they are both child actors, therefore they have a much different and rosy-colored story compared to the rest of the masses. You also don’t hear much honesty from the interviewees; ALL of their childhoods were dream like? Really? The most honest was the Lings’ where they said they were left at home on their own a lot during their parents’ divorce.
I also liked when Kate said she spends every other Christmas in LA because...”a lot of dads involved and extended family.” Honest, funny, REAL. More of that from everyone. Oliver: NO one cares you can’t spend Christmas at your family’s second vacation home in Colorado.
I’ve been listening to this since the beginning and have skipped shows more and more.
Until this becomes more realistic and interesting, telling real people’s real stories, I’m out.”
