Clearly the”Daughter” as well as the other voices heard were actors. Why not tell us that upfront and limit the negative reviews ? And yes, way too many “mum” references. A good story that could have been done more professionally.

This is a fascinating story. However, if it was shortened to 3 or 4 it would have maintained a greater degree of fascination.

Everyone trying very hard and failing to make this guy Ted seem like an enigmatic genius. He’s actually quite unexceptional. There isn’t enough here for a full season.

Enjoyed the podcast…up until the point where the cheesy daughter starts talking. I struggled to believe that she was real. Almost like she was acting. I made it through to the end but she almost made me stop listening.

The story was interesting but the daughter is unlikeable. I did not enjoy listening to her. Could have quoted some things she said and let that be enough. He didn’t want his story told and she refused to honor his wishes. She’s the real villain here. I’m still mad she openly told this.

Could have been covered in one episode

Yes, the daughter sounds overly rehearsed when speaking but this story was intriguing. I can’t imagine what this would have been like to experience this as a wife or daughter, although I think I would have seen the red flags and dug in. Unexpectedly, I was brought to tears on the last episode,...Read full review »

I absolutely loved this show!! Great reporting and extremely heartfelt. Ultimately someone’s story doesn’t necessarily depict who they are or what they struggle with. Loved this podcast!!

It may not have been the worst, but it certainly was far from good. It was probably in the bottom percentage of podcasts. I’ve listened to. I feel completely deceived by the title and I think that’s why I have such a low rating and think so low of this whole entire podcast. It definitely mentions...Read full review »

Ashley is awesome!

First of all, the daughter is truly an awful person. Her father spent his entire life living in obscurity, asked her to keep his secret and what does she do? She goes to him the next day and tells him he HAS to tell his secret and if he doesn’t, she will. Then after he dies, she goes to the...Read full review »

I thought Alex and Ashley did an excellent job. This was very interesting. I hope they do another podcast together.

Such an interesting podcast and well worth listening to the entire incredible story.

Utterly unbelievable. So tragic. This is a must to listen to.

Why is the daughter talking so fake as if this wasn’t real life or her real father. She’s trying too hard to sound quirky or interesting but she sounds like a extremely fake hired actress. The host should not have invited her - “my mum” 😏
Jax1234xoxo via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/09/24
I was so excited to hear more about this story, and the daughter ruins it all for me! She was too dramatic and really obnoxious. Mum? Why does she call her mom mum? Every 30 seconds. This isn’t Australia or England. I don’t think I can finish this season. 😵‍💫😵‍💫 She’s too much. I agree with the...Read full review »

Good story but the daughter’s dramatic tone & story telling was way too much. Sounds so inauthentic. Very off putting. I cringe when she talks. Just speak normal.

I listened to the whole thing in two days after starting it on a walk! I really enjoyed it, I just want to know where the money went 🤯

I really really want to like this podcast, but I’m just so lost with the story telling I’m not following much 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m a mailman who hasn’t listened to thousands of podcasts. This season had me listening to every word. I went through the whole season in a shift. Can’t wait to listen to the other 5 seasons. This is a must listen

What a great story I love mysteries I listen to all kinds of podcasts while I’m working and this one was much different but wow! I’m trying not to cry at the end listening to her letter to her dad while I’m at work! What a good story!

The first two episodes were really interesting but once the female host jumped on, it ruined it for me. She said “mum” so many times that I turned it off and probably won’t ever finish this podcast to find out more about this Tom guy.
h1ghfriend via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/23/24
This felt very American and over produced, it had a chance to be very personal and raw but I felt like I was going through someone’s bins. Even the other family didn’t want to be involved..
geomayjames via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/21/24
It’s a great story but hearing “mum” every 5 seconds erks me! I wish they had just interviewed the daughter and moved on. Can’t stand her..
Kimboslice259 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/19/24
IDK who thought the daughter was a good addition to this podcast but she was a big deterrent for me. She stuck me as having an affect that was self-centered and phony and apparently had no emotional loyalty to a man that by her and others’ accounts was a good man, husband and father. Cheap shot...Read full review »

I was reading a few reviews AFTER I listened to the podcast. My heart aches at all the insensitive comments that were written. Ashley lost her father! Let me write it again Ashley, who had nothing to do with her fathers crime, lost her father! I enjoyed the story and the story telling. Mum was...Read full review »

Thanks for the deep dive into this story, after having heard some of it on the national media. I would have been shocked to learn the truth about my spouse/ father just as Kathy & Ashley did. Thanks for covering BOTH sides of this bank heist—it’s so helpful to hear from both sides of this...Read full review »

I loved this season, My Fugitive Dad. The podcast mixed in true crime along with a daughters love for her father. I am legit stopping because I can’t listen to this woman say “mum” one more time. You totally could have just interviewed her once and be done with the daughters pov. The story is cool enough but not for more than a few episodes. I understand content is hard to come by but lord this one is a down...Read full review »

Enjoyed the story, but they stretched it out and dramatized it more than necessary.

Clearly the daughter and others were reading a script and it was a bit nauseating at times. However the story was cool. The most aggravating part was the daughter coming across as entitled, and missing out because dad didn’t carry life insurance. It also was baffling how she acted like the...Read full review »

While the story is interesting and Alex has a great narrative voice… Ashley’s valley girl esque voice and poor acting abilities were so off putting I had to stop listening.

The daughter’s voice is terribly annoying. She’s trying too hard or something. I had to stop it once she started talking about how good looking her “Mum” was back then. Boring.

Fantastic story, the host is great but my god is the daughter so annoying. Everything she says is so scripted and written out, like she’s making her acting debut.. never conversational, seems like her dad being a secret fugitive is the best thing that ever happened to her. Also agree with the...Read full review »

Ashley’s voice sounds like a cheap actor’s portrayal. Absolutely not believable nor sympathetic. Had to stop listening because it felt more like a bad made-for-tv movie than a doc.

I hate the voice acting for the daughter. Doesn’t feel like a real person talking at all. Had to stop listening.

I liked this story but would’ve enjoyed a little more digging into where the money was spent. Interesting story but hard to listen too. Very theatrical narration and storytelling that seemed inauthentic and scripted.

I highly recommend this true crime podcast with a twist. This story is told with empathy from various points of view; from the daughter of the bank robber who got away with it to the two generations of law enforcement officers who ultimately solved the case some fifty years later.
