“Top podcast and that even though I’ve not agreed with a number of assertions made. One example being your acerbic views on the Great Clive Everton who is The Snooker Don - to suggest he’s too old and not a good analyst because he’s not been a pro snooker player is simply wrongheaded and insulting. He is an absolute legend and the voice of snooker following the departure of the late Whispering Ted Lowe around 20 years ago. The whole idea of paired sport commentary is that you need that chemistry of a straight man who variously handles all the housekeeping in terms of being an anchor, putting the match into context in terms of history, that completion and the season itself, dealing with statistics, segues, graphics etc and the ex-pro who deals almost exclusively with the technical side of the game and what they know about the player having being on the same circuit as them etc. Btw Everton did have an impressive billiards career which is the bedrock of snooker but had to retire through injury. Also his knowledge of the game both factual and technical is unsurpassed. Commentary of purely ex-pros is boring with all the “in-jokes” an alienating and nauseating factor that almost always creeps in. The pros need to be kept in line on what makes good commentary - it’s an art - as no they’re not broadcasters or journalists and they’re simply snooker players who’ve gone in to the media. You also don’t rate Steve Davis as a commentator which is absolutely bizarre given that he’s by far the most knowledgable on the technical side (which you appear to want) and unlike Hendry actually has some personality and friendliness about him. Venue Vitriol is a superb feature. I think it would be very amusing if you were to extend this to snooker clubs or any venue where you can play snooker as, in my experience, almost all of these take a bartering in online reviews and, who knows, in a small way may influence positive change at some of these God-forsaken joints. I have given the podcast 5 stars as it is very good and I appreciate that it is more a labour of love than a career choice which is admirable and worthy of respect. Keep up the good work but perhaps try to be a little quicker between episodes - is it really that much to ask to give us 15-30 mins every fortnight? Sort it out lads or I’ll have Barry Pinches over to have a word!”
