“I came to podcasts late-ish (Serial S1 was about a year old). It was the scrappy underdog medium of audio - you could find almost hidden groups of amateur enthusiasts making documentaries and audio dramas to rival BBC Radio productions. I loved the David and Goliath aspect, self funded teams like NoSleep becoming household names.
Solar is made by Goliaths, not Davids. But you know what, absolutely none of that money seems to have been wasted. The plotting, the pacing, the characters the science, the world building, all of it is absolutely perfect. This really is about as good as audio drama can be.”
