Oh dear
In the BBC days this used to be the best podcast out there. Mark would review every film released that week (more or less) which would often be 8 or 9 films over a 2 hour pod. Then, they went “private” in an attempt to get more money and now produce this sorry excuse for a show. Hardly any reviews, all we get is ads and begging for reviews on here, and a podcast that’s getting shorter and shorter every week. Not to mention Mark’s political rants. He may have softened since, but let’s not forget he has his own problematic political past. And Simon still seems to enjoy the extended holidays he had at the BBC - not cool when you’re expecting people to pay for a podcast with your name on it. I don’t subscribe and I’m glad I don’t as the paid content is now about 15 mins a week. I’m close to giving up on this - I just feel I stick around out of some old-school loyalty to the glory days. The are far better film podcasts out there - try the Empire podcast. It might have a more brash sense of humour and the reviews might not quite have Mark’s academic dissection. But it’s fun, the team are great and they clearly are way more passionate about film than these guys are currently displaying. Such a shame.
