Hoping things gel eventually (spoiler: they still haven’t)
I was a LTL from as long the show was on BBC 5 and even had my one and only letter to the show read out. Something isn’t working about the new podcast. I’m no fan of the ads (and having extra paid content is just really poor, especially when the free elements of the actor interviews are all the bad bits), but I just scroll through them. Unfortunately, doing that makes the show quite short. More than that, though, the sound quality is weird, the editing is full of glitches, and there is something stilted about the interaction between Simon and Mark. I can’t put my finger on what as, after all, they’ve been broadcasting together for years. I also miss the more ‘live’ feeling audience interaction. I’m not someone who normally has an issue with change generally so this isn’t me, it’s something not working with the podcast. I’m hoping these are all teething problems so I’ll keep listening for now. ************* Returning to update my review after a few months. In that time the show remained weak and I find I’ve not only gradually stopped listening but don’t even miss it. So often presenters think they are solely responsible for their show’s success, but since leaving the BBC whatever it was that helped make the show great (The producers? Being live? No ads?) has been lost. Sorry guys, I gave it good go, but I’m unsubscribing.
