What music means to people, in their own words
I love rock music. When I looked at the list of songs and pieces BBC covered for this show, rock was in the minority, so I was skeptical that I would get anything out of it. But I gave it a try, and was completely won over. Each show features interviews with a number of people who have been deeply affected by the song in question. You never hear the interviewers themselves, and actually only hear clips of the song. The focus is completely on how meaningful music can be for people. Even for songs that I've never liked, such as Hallelujah, the stories are so moving, so well selected, and so well edited that I found that I could not stop listening. This would be fantastic to use in a music appreciation course. Just a remarkable achievement.Read full review »

Wow, more people treating great music as a way of trying to make themselves feel important, it reminds of the b.s. crap I had to listen to in art...Read full review »
