Wonderful conversations for heart and mind (but I wish the episode summaries were less bewildering!)
I love listening to Insights at the Edge. Tami Simon creates space for beautiful, rich, surprising things to happen between her and her guests, striking that very difficult balance between shaping/steering the conversation and simply letting it unfold. Her interviews are fiercely focused, but still ‘alive’(and her voice, as many others have said, is a balm). My only frustration is that the episode summaries are so hit-and-miss (and sometimes just bizarre) that it can be hard to know who you’ll be listening to, or why you should listen at all, e.g. ‘In this podcast, George speaks with Sounds True Founder, Tami Simon…’ Who the heck is ‘George’?? Nothing in the preview I can see in my feed leaves me any the wiser as to who this person is; and when I click on the episode to read its full description… Nope, he’s still just ‘George’. It reads like Tami is a guest on ‘George’s’ podcast, not the other way around. I can’t be the only person who loves listening to podcasts, but doesn’t always have time to listen to every episode of every podcast I subscribe to. When all I can see in my feed is the first part of the episode description, and all that tells me is ‘In this episode/podcast, Sounds True founder Tami Simon speaks with…’, it doesn’t give me a reason to dive in - it just tells me I have to go to the podcast/episode page to glean any useful information. Even then, taking that extra step - which I don’t always have time for/remember to do - can leave me scratching my head, wondering who ‘George’ (or ‘Shannon’, or ‘Michael’) is. And so I never prioritise listening to that conversation - when it’s probably wonderful. Please help us listeners out, Sounds True? Begin each episode description with the interviewee’s full name, and the key information we need to know about them, so that even the preview text is enough for us to understand essentially who/what it’s about. Make each episode title clearer and more descriptive (ideally including the interviewee’s name, too). Cut the stuff that’s self-evident or redundant (‘In this podcast/episode, Sounds True founder Tami Simon talks to…’), and which belongs in the *podcast* description, not every single *episode* description. It would make such a difference. I value and admire what you do, and I’m grateful for the force that is Sounds True. I’d simply love it if you made it much easier for your listeners to understand who you’re talking to, and why we should tune in. Thank you for your hard work. : )

Tami Simon is a master interviewer. She never ever ever interrupts her guests with validation or ego sharing. She fires off a thoughtful probe and then relaxes into the answer... and lets us do the same. She creates the space for the unfoldment of deeper understanding to arise- and then some....Read full review »

This is one of the most in depth collections of interviews that focus on mindfulness and lots of other alternative life strategies and wisdom. Tami is a brilliant interviewer.
