“Hi to the intern or whomever reads this, as a long time listener and someone who has experience with podcasts and projects on the literature side, I have a few points I wanted to have you guys read about my take of show.
1. Time length: While I know Biz and Whit are busy, the format of “one long episode” becomes quite useless after a day or two. Sure the interview is relevant but anything else discussed is only of use on that Tuesday. Which makes the “playback” value of each episode quite low. Shorter episodes, twice a week would encapsulate NHL news perfectly, as I am sure, along with others, is the leading catalyst behind listening each week.
2. Interviews: When interviewing current NHL players, it is good to get the inside take on the team and how the season is going, but there is nothing else to it. It is essentially a longer post game interview after a while as much of it a vague information about the team or the season. You guys seem to miss the mark on asking them engaging questions such “Tell me about the party life, community in your junior or university town?” “Which major did you take in school and why did you want to take that?” Questioning addressing their life outside of hockey, should, IMO, be a larger part of the 60 minute interview.
All in all, working on shorter episodes with more engaging questions to the Atheletes would add more to the podcast. Perhaps, more sports reporters to come on, beat reporters and long time broadcasters are always fun to listen to, since they know what they are doing.
Good stuff regardless, from a fan in Toronto.”
