Great weekly listen
Jimmy is definitely part on my weekly podcast listening rotation with great takes on sports media and interviews with the various talking heads. For some reason, the 4/29 pod had some technical difficulties and it sounds like Ryen Russillo is interviewing Jimmy on the phone. But even with that, the audio quality is generally way better than many other podcasts. As for the content, I know this will fall on Jimmy’s deaf ears but my vote is for more hockey and Sal/Traina Thoughts (pop culture in particular) and less basketball and wrestling talk. Especially as we get into playoff season, to even suggest that playoff basketball is better than playoff hockey is an incredibly bad take. Playoff hockey is light years ahead of playoff pro basketball. If you want to put the excitement of hockey and basketball on the same level, do nothing to hockey and start all basketball games 100-100 with one minute to go and give everyone five fouls. Have the players run around the arena to tire them out if you want. At that point - and only at that point - basketball becomes watchable and interesting. I know what Jimmy will say. “Look at the ratings. I’m just talking about what people are watching.” Fair point but there is a chicken and the egg thing here. I also get that it’s Jimmy’s pod and he gets to talk about what he likes. I just can’t imagine someone with such great pop culture taste (Curb, Seinfeld, Stern, etc.) could be so far off when it comes to preferring basketball over hockey.

Like the concept of the show. Bomani Jones was the best EP so far.

Richard's media column is a must read for anyone interested in the political business deals that determine who is on the air or behind the desk when you watch sports. And the podcast is no different.Read full review »
