“Steve and Bear both really likable guys with good opinions and takes on games related to gambling. Where the pod loses me is how incoherent it can be, how unorganized it is and how long it is.
Incoherent - they jump in and out of games so loosely it can be hard to follow. It’s almost like this is audio from a TV show where the visuals are prompting the audience of what game they are talking about. Introducing a game between Nevada and Utah State by saying “how about in Logan...I like the underdog...etc etc” and going a minute or so before mentioning either teams name or the spread makes it really hard to follow.
Unorganized - there’s no set structure each week. It literally sounds like they do zero prep before hand and then just turn on the mics and start a casual convo. I much prefer a pod with defined segments so that it feels like we are moving along at a faster pace and I know what to expect. Especially when you have an hour + pod
Too long - I listen to Stuckey and Collin Wilson and their pod is same
Length...but it’s packed to the gills with picks, Info etc. Bear and Steve could fit their picks and info into 30 min if they didn’t hem and haw so much. The podcast moves with the urgency of a Donavan McNabb 2 minute drill. The last one I listened too went 17 minutes before they gave their first pick.
One other thing...they are starting to defer to the “column” a lot more which is behind a paywall at espn.com. A little cheesy to give picks on a pod but then use your record from a pay site where it sounds like the picks can differ
Overall...if this was the only gambling pod out there it would be fine. But there are better options and I find myself slowly pushing this one out of my rotation.”
