“I was really interested in this through the first few episodes. The characters are interesting, the acting is good, the setting is compelling, and I was really interested to see where it went. But I had to give up after episode five because I just can't get behind the protagonist. She is fully complicit in the deeply and seemingly purposelessly evil world she inhabits, and executes her duties within it without any apparent internal conflict over them.
In the face of this, I just don't know why I should root for her moving forward. I spent a couple episodes rooting for her to grow a conscience as the horrors of her environment were revealed, but if imposing a horrible punishment on subordinates for behavior of which she was guilty didn't do the trick, I can't imagine what will. Without any particular reason to like the main character or hope that good things happen to her, I just don't see how I can invest any more time in this story.”Read full review »
