Description
Are you a parent or teacher of any children with Asperger's or any form of autism, and notice they may have difficulty understanding new Mathematical concepts?
This was the case with me, as my language difficulties meant it was difficult for me to understand new concepts and apply new knowledge to given problems. With appropriate support and use of my interests, this gradually improved for me over time.
You can listen to my personal experiences being at school and try and use them for inspiring, and thinking up ideas of your own to provide better support.
And just for your information, I've never worked in a teaching or medical capacity.
Points covered include:
Improving engagement and cooperation.Certain teaching styles, including incorporating a child's hobbies and special interests. There are references to using Lego bricks.
Thanks for listening. You can find me on my website stephensevolution.com, or on twitter here. You can sign up to receive news of new episodes when they're released here.
