Description
Qurratulain Haider or Aini aapa as she was known to her loved ones, made a distinctive place for herself among progressive writers. Her novel “Aag Ka Dariya”(River of Fire) was first published in Urdu in 1959, stretches from the 4th century BC to post partition India/Pakistan. It remains a landmark historical novel. Her short stories, unlike those of her predecessors in the progressive writers movement, lived in cities and towns alike. She opened the doors (and closets) of the rich and “khaandaani” class and let the skeletons fall out. A unique voice with an exquisite sense of detail. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/storyjam/message
