In this story set in the mid century, author Mannu Bhandari draws a sketch of a summer afternoon in a fancy New Delhi restaurant, with its live music and young lovers, bored middle aged people and young college girls, tasteless businessmen and their grovelling employees...all interrupted mid conversation by some unexpected guests.  One of the pioneers of Nayi Kahani movement in Hindi literature, Mannu Bhandari chose to write about the change in society and culture in newly independent and rapidly industrializing country.
