A truly remarkable story
A crime? The accused? Fact? Fiction? A redneck Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Full of tall tales and too much truth for this backwoods town in Alabama. The even keel of the narrator’s bland voice is required to let all the story’s characters shine through. Clock-making and whiskey-drinking, paranoia and misunderstandings, hedge mazes and azaleas, fire-gilding and mercury-poisoning, loving and losing...it’s all here with the truth lying somewhere in the murky waters of small town Alabama. Best podcast I’ve ever heard! Kudos to Brian Reed and the people of S-Town.
