Absolutely wonderful podcast! Even though today I listened to my first ever BMJ Sharp Scratch podcast I can wholeheartedly say that this is probably one of the best podcasts out there. I’ve learnt so much just from one listening to one episode and now I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the...Read full review »

I wish I knew about this podcast as a student as I was an ST3 when I found out and started listening to this. It was fun to listen to, to see what I thought in my medical school and foundation year days even if a lot of the information no longer applies to me, it helps me understand my juniors...Read full review »

I really enjoy the podcast and the members. I am a student in the UAE doing my clinicals and find the advice and strategies to tackle hospital work really helpful. I was wondering if you guys could have an episode on international medical graduates working in the UK as foundation doctors, as I...Read full review »

Absolutely amazing content being fired from the hosts and guests. There’s an incredible insight into ‘real’ medicine and the lessons that can be learned. Keep it up!

Started listening to this as I've seen/heard it advertised so many times. Really enjoying it, found lots of relevant ones so far. Particularly the QI one as I have a project next term. Great to listen to, a bit of a mix between studying and not!! Would definitely recommend 😊Read full review »

Great podcast. Every episode is not only full of insight but you can tell there’s a genuine connection and friendship between all the hosts. Even though I’m not able to go to Med School in the UK as I had wanted/planned I can’t stop listening to them. Keep it up guys!

Love the insight into life as a med student and words of wisdom for life as a junior doctor. The only problem I have is the sound quality can be pretty poor and it has stopped me listening to a lot of episodes:/

My final medical school year was 30 years ago in Australia. So far I have only heard a handful of episodes but they have brought back some memories, and some of the issues are relevant to doctors at any career stage. This should be an excellent resource. Keep up the good work.

I’m an aspiring med student (applying for a graduate course) and this podcast has been brilliant to give an insight to medical school as well as life as a junior doctor with all the topics that aren’t normally talked about. Thank you so much for all your hard work and great guests with open and...Read full review »

When I started listening, I expected a bit of banter, some dark humour, and topical discussions. I did get a bit of banter, but, more importantly, thoughtful takes on very real topics that affect students and junior doctors. It is tailored to the medical student context, recognising that we often...Read full review »

I would highly recommend this series of podcasts to all medical students or fresh grads. The topics are very relevant and I wish I knew about them earlier on in medical school, for example how to choose and organise a good project. It’s informative yet easy to listen to whilst multitasking....Read full review »

I enjoyed the podcast immensely! I’m an international graduate diet to begin fy1 in the UK and its invaluable to hear the hidden aspects of the uk system that is not taught to us at medical school.

Really enjoyed the first episode of Sharp Scratch. Podcast covers relevant content for medical students getting ready to be “real doctors”. Good preparation for being a junior which isn’t covered at medical school. A good survival guide for nights (coffee and frozen grapes). The student BMJ...Read full review »

Not the biggest fan of medical students giving advice to other medical students. Using medical students for posing questions is completely fair as they will ask much of what all of us are thinking but if we can have more doctors giving tips that would be great :) for me, the ratio was off (3:1)....Read full review »

Great first episode. Down to earth, charming, and interesting (even for a non-medic). As someone who does night shifts every now and again I found this first episode enlightening and validating. I might even try frozen grapes. 10/10.

Really enjoyed the first episode of sharp scratch- good to hear fears we have as medical students openly discussed, with advice given on surviving the night shift and also really interesting science. Will recommend to other medical students and looking forward to next episode!

Really relatable content and a nice thing to listen to at the end of the day :)

Listened to the episode about night shifts and it addressed a bunch of the common anxieties about them in a relaxed and candid way - including with a junior Dr who had just done one! Super entertaining, please do more! :)

I really enjoyed the episodes where the Student and Consultant talked through a case of SOB, going through history, examination, differentials, further investigations and management. I would like to see more of these, as I think they are a good way to consolidate knowledge, and is good way to...Read full review »
