Great cases that aren’t covered by other podcasts and Mike is hilarious. Contrary to some people’s opinion, he doesn’t hate women. The guy has common sense, a brain and is hilarious. And yes, I’m a woman.

I love listening to this podcast, although sometimes I find the presenter’s opinions off putting, but the episode ’No Justice’ was exceptional! It actually made me cry, the details and delivery were incredible. Overall I highly recommend this podcast to true crime fans

The skillful telling of these unthinkable crimes is captivating. Decades ago I became interested in true crime because of my teenage children, maybe I’d learn something to help protect them now it’s more about awareness for my own safety. Good stuff. I became a subscriber today!

The digs and comments against women and constant insertion of political opinions is a turn off. Also the delivery is GOD freaking awful! No one wants to listen up anyone pausing every 2-3 words for some sort of dramatic effect.

I have listened to your podcast and look forward to the stories but the side commentary that are based purely on personal preference makes me reluctant to tune in. I think your podcast would be so kc better if you left it out. I’m a sucker for a humor and sarcasm but comments have an undertone of...Read full review »

Loved listening to Sword and Scale so I was super excited about this new podcast but unfortunately the host has lost my attention. He is always making condescending comments about sex, race and politics. WE DO NOT CARE. So frustrating because the stories are unique unlike other podcast but I...Read full review »

No
Anyone wanting to check out this pod or Sword and Scale, the host hates women a lot, is pro Trump, thinks jurors are stupid and thinks everyone should have guns. FYI.

Sarcastic, sexist, and blatantly bigoted/disrespectful
shelbeibei via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/19/24
Stopped listening to all of his shows and unsubscribed because he can’t stop ragging on women and dropping little comments about politics. Was a long time listener but he’s just become nauseating.

Yes. It seems that Colleen should have been found guilty of killing her husband and sent to jail for a long time. But you say she was suspicious when she told police that she was a victim of domestic violence because domestic violence victims usually don’t know they are victims?? What?!? And...Read full review »

Excellent cases but the host is an insufferable misogynist who honestly has no idea how to be sympathetic to victims without somehow blaming them. Plus, give Shatner his cadence back.
Feefs2 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/18/24
The stories are good, but Mike’s petulant little “wounded boy” delivery is distracting. His out of left field jabs at women makes one question the validity - is he slanting story details to prove something? Someone get Mike some therapy for however many women, in whatever ways, really jaded him.

First review I’ve ever written for anything. Have been a S&S listener for years and was really excited for the adaptation. The host has always inserted annoying and unnecessary commentary into the stories, but recently his right wing and/or anti-women jabs are appearing in every episode. He...Read full review »

I like the stories but not the intense music and all the negative talk about women. I think the host is projecting either his own opinions or experiences

Seriously, keep your women-hating opinion to yourself.

Started really good. I enjoyed the host and stories. As time has passed, however, the host has started to insert his opinions in a very condescending and mocking way. The show has just become abrasive and off putting. It’s a shame.
BethK5 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/18/24
Mike can’t help but pontificate on his pro-Trump opinions throughout the podcast. One of the things that seems to give Mike the most glee, is trying to discredit the #metoo movement.

Found this by accident. I’m hooked. Not too long of a listen, just enough sarcasm from the host. And oh Host/voice is disarming, sexy in a diff way.

Advertisements pop in multiple times per episode at a different volume than the show. For a project aiming to be consumed before bed/in the dark the ads really should all be at the beginning or at least in only one place. Give the listeners some respect. Would be 5 stars if i could listen to it...Read full review »

I absolutely loved loved series one, particularly for sleeping, I love normal S&S as well but the thing about this one was that Mike affected a flat sloooow tone throughout series One that was so so great for rest. I really enjoy the stories, but the host is terrible. Meh
It started out so good with just facts and storytelling but now Mike is inserting more of his opinions and weird condescending remarks and it’s just become a shorter version of Sword and Scale. I’m all for…. monetising content….but four ads per short, episode?….is taking the …urine. I left the pauses in so it sounded like the racist, misogynistic host. (He developed as a character, and sadly it’s now his entire ethos. For any…. of his all too…..often offered….. opinions)

Definitely dark material, but the presentation is just fantastic and unique. Makes for a perfect shorter podcast that’s great before bedtime. Mike, don’t change a thing. 💯% ⭐️

Sword and Scale & SAS Nightmares are both excellent podcasts. The stories are interesting and the pacing is excellent! It’s a very enjoyable way to spend your time!

Look, I love Sword and Scale. It’s my favorite podcast ever but the amount of ads in this show is absolutely uncalled for. You have a 25 minute show with 10 minutes being ads. Stupid.
LNC01! via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/31/24
If you kept your repetitive, boring, sarcastic comments to yourself the 26 minute eps could be culled down to 10 minutes.

Great episodes, well written, and well spoken. However the jokes about “wokeness” get a bit stale. (They’re just not funny. Low hanging fruit.)

Great storytelling and very captivating. HOWEVER, there is a lot of condescending comments made by the narrator that is unrelated to the story and sways the mood. Please stick to the story without inserting irrelevant commentary.

Well, the host of this show has really let his opinions fly in the last few episodes. Mike was born to be a storyteller of true crime! I’ve listened to Mike for years. His content and his ability to tell a story and engage his audience is very good. That being said, he often lets it be known how little he thinks of women.
