A true disservice to women
Calling a the desire to birth freely a product of patriarchy, or reducing it to a trend, disqualifies this podcast from being considered a support for women who seek a birth outside of the medical space. Therein lies a lack of understanding about the risks of medical births (including the presence of a midwife), a massive distrust in women as the true authority oder their bodies, and a shocking indifference about what dangers women of color face when entering a hospital for birth. This is not “taking back birth” the way I see it: Back into the hands of the birthing women. Instead, it is taking back birth into the hands of outside experts to feel relevant. What a betrayal.

The podcast began with a great bang, then the truth and confusion began to slowly dribble out. I do not recommend this podcast for any women trying to find positive, encouraging, and female empowering audio while pregnant.
