“I just finished listening to your interview with Kate Walsh. It was lovely. As a retired Clinical Social Worker I just finished watching the entire series of Grey’s Anatomy for the third time on Netflix. When I told my actress aunt that I had watched it for the third time she ask why? I told her I believe it is the best rendition of the human condition that is on TV today. Yes there are silly plots, unlikely drama behind the scenes, and business decisions that may be harmful to the staff involved in making the show. And I’m sure suffering along the way in making the series and that makes me sad and I don’t want to negate those harmful experiences. But in my opinion it also reflects stories from a feminine, social justice, and hopeful perspective. Interestingly enough it has made me less fearful of death and accepting of life in general. It has taught me how minorities are treated unfairly in this country. I now have a different perspective on the medical community and all the complexities of that profession. When you’re having a hard day on the set just remember you helped one person grow.”
