Stick with basketball please
I always skip through your talks on hockey (which weirdly happen often for a basketball podcast), but I am into tennis so stuck around for your recent commentary on Naomi Osaka. Unfortunately it turned out to show how massively uninformed you are on that situation and tennis in general. You heard her talk about “mental health” and since you value that (I do too, as I’m sure most people do) you made all sorts of assumptions about her being in the right in this situation. I like Osaka, but she made a huge misstep with her initial statement and actions before finally withdrawing (which was the right decision in the end and is what she should have done in the first place if she was unable to do her job at the French Open because of her mental health). I sincerely hope the best for her, and that she can get to a better place and feel able to come back to tennis in full health, able to engage in all parts of her job as a professional tennis player. And I hope she’s also able to actually engage with the tournaments and the tour at that point about how things can be done better in terms of media obligations to better support players’ mental health (rather than throwing out tweeted “statements” then refusing to engage in any constructive dialogue or any dialogue at all). If you’re going to offer commentary on sports or sports figures outside of your realm (i.e. outside of raptors/basketball), please look into things a bit more and inform yourself first. Otherwise, a decent and fun podcast, and has generally been worth the listen as a raptors fan.

Please continue with this podcast I think it’s important to hear views from a local standpoint. We have enough national and international media but this special straight from the people bless
