Great — as always
Al, please read about the U. S. Attorneys who were investigating and preparing to prosecute Spiro Agnew. They were desperate to get through the work and somehow get Agnew out of office, by resignation or indictment. Because they had insiders’ knowledge and awareness that Nixon himself was going to eventually resign or be removed via impeachment. That certainly—by their own admission—altered their thinking, some of their actions, and certainly the pace of their work. They did not want someone who was another criminal to succeed Nixon. If you think about it, you can probably name a half-dozen cases that were also made more urgent due to external events. There are very timid and tremulous prosecutors like Vance and Bharara who ignore difficult cases and in others take too much time and demand that there be no deadlines. Just so with Bharara and the financial crimes of 2008. He maintains there were no cases, meanwhile it was left to Eliot Spitzer to bring successful civil suits, win millions in fines from individuals, have them barred from banking in NY State. Witnesses were hiring attorneys who were astounded that the US Attorney had not stepped in.

But now he's pouting and, quite frankly, cranky and whining instead of thinking seriously and making smart observations....Read full review »
