prof freeman is an energetic, articulate and well organized lecturer with a compelling approach - outlined in the first lecture. She uses a variety of primary source materials to describe the social and political context of the colonial period. One emphasis is the uncertainty of the entire revolutionary enterprise in the minds of the participants. How would this end? Well how could they have known. With light humor and a bright style she animates this period in a manner I found very compelling. There is never a dull moment. Furthermore, the audio quality is excellent compared to other yale productions.

More reviews of The American Revolution
Great lectures that are full of fascinating anecdotes and personal stories that make the history of the American Revolution accessible to anyone. Joanne B Freeman is so endearing and enthusiastic, let's hope the 1890's lectures are available next.
