Not a fan of Wondery’s brand: drawing out a story into a much longer series than necessary, blasting it with ads every few minutes. The story is fascinating. Wish another company produced it. Edit to add: The complete irony of how The Apology Line ended.. -Spoiler maybe- Paywalling the...Read full review »

This podcast is fine as a slice-of-life observation, but there is no mystery, no crime. It is clear very early on that “Ritchie” is not actually a serial killer, but is punking Alan and the listeners of his show. So why spend so much time on him? In addition, Alan isn’t a very sympathetic...Read full review »

This is some binge worthy stuff. I loved this.

Loved The Apology Line and like the apologisers/ callers, I was mesmerised by Alan, the artist. There is suspense a plenty and while not a typical true-crime podcast, it toed the line enough to keep this true-crime podcast listener hooked on every episode. Like with all great podcasts, I missed...Read full review »

The story about those that started this doesn’t captivate me in the least. Love the calls though!

Love this fresh take on true crime, the 80’s, & the whole concept of Mr. Apology’s project. Highly recommend!

One of the most interesting podcasts I’ve listened to so far. Very unique in its content and keeps you wanting more. The delivery and structure are perfect for listening at work so you don’t get too distracted but you’re still invested.

The audio recordings are awful. I just can't keep listening and trying to make out what is being said. Shame as the potential is good.Read full review »

I really enjoyed the podcast, what a unique idea that had many twists and turns. Thank you for sharing this with us, you tell a great story well done.

This podcast started off really good, but then it tapered off at the end and lost a lot of its intrigue. It’s also hugely dramatic in its delivery, which I think made it less believable. Four stars for the beginning, two stars for the last couple episodes.

Don’t build it up just for the sake of storytelling if you don’t have paid to match it

The start is great and the notion of the apology line is unique. It really gets terrible when they try to make his death a whodunnit.

I really enjoyed this podcast. It turned out different than I had expected, which is a very good thing. Wish there had been more episodes, but I value the succinctness of the series.

Meh
It doesn’t sound genuine. Maybe Apology was real? I dunno, but the recordings sound manufactured or over produced. More like a dramatization than fact.

I have tried 3 times to listen to this podcast but the narrator is awful. She sounds like she is reading a script. Her inflections while reading drove me crazy. I’m deleting this podcast

I found it very thought provoking and interesting, but the faux outrage and rehearsed speaking of the host was so robotic and false that I found myself irritated quite often.

Thanks to Marissa for sharing Allan’s story. I cannot imagine how it must have been for her all those years, but Allan brought a sense of peace to callers who needed the line. I recommend this podcast!

I started listening for the true crime and stayed for the feels!

The podcast was great the first three episodes and had a very anti climactic ending that was dragged out over two episodes (could have easily have been one). Wasn’t impressed with Allen as a person.

I’m amazed at this true story. It introduced me to a unique event and time in history that I would’ve never known about. Thank you for making this podcast!

I enjoyed podcast so much and I was so engaged to the story. And I understand that you have to make money somehow to make this great podcast free for the listeners but damn! And also found myself not really caring about the people. Laughed inappropriately too many times. Don’t hear about any of the actual people/stories thst don’t go anywhere.

Saw all the reviews so I gave it a shot. Started alright, but then went all over the place and never really popped.
TASniggleswerth via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/04/21
I would agree with the other reviews that it is a bit misleading - I wouldn’t truly consider this to be true crime. But it was still a good listen when I was running out of other true crime podcasts.

This podcast grabbed my attention from the beginning. The first four episodes were great. They did start to get pretty scattered after that. They story started to skip around quite a bit. There seemed to be a lot of important information missing. After the first 4 episodes it went down hill....Read full review »

The first four episodes were absolutely amazingly written. They were engaging and linear and left you wanting more. Sometimes it seemed the podcast was more about the wife (narrator) than what the basic story was supposed to be about. In talking about herself, the story drifted so far off that it was annoying.
