“Listening to the series on the sinking of the Belgrano is taking me back over forty years to the events in question. We were living and working in Peru at the time (I teach history too, so the events were even more interesting!). Brash, young (and foolish) Brits as we were, our local football team wore Union Jack shirts one day to walk around our part of Lima. Mistake. The sentiments of the Peruvians was not favourable and I remember Belaunde’s peace overtures quite well. His granddaughter was in my class at the time too! Anyway, this very good podcast has made me digress as you can see - but deals with this aspect of the conflict very well. Can’t wait ( I don’t have to?) for the last two episodes! Well done!”
