After three years at Lousiville University, Tyeler Hawkins decided he needed a change. It was either stop playing baseball altogether or transfer to a new school, hoping for a fresh start. He chose to attend an HBCU, Southern University, in the SWAC conference. That decision turned out to be a perfect one for Tyeler. He rediscovered his love for the game and started to have fun again. He called his final college baseball season the most fun he's ever had playing the game. Tyeler batted a team-leading 368 with 9 HR and 48 RBIs. His Southern team played in the Cactus Jack Invitational at Minute Maid Park, the Andre Dawson Classic on National TV, and the SWAC tournament: they even upset the defending National Champions LSU Tigers on the road. Tyeler was selected to play in the MBP all-star game and the upcoming MLB/HBCU Swingman Classic.
On this episode, Tyeler talks to Cheats about his collegiate career (the ups and downs) and his future in baseball. You don't want to miss this fantastic episode.
