In this first episode of 2024, I'm speaking to Ola Ravald, who is regarded as one of the world's leading ski technique coaches. Training in technical and motor skills usually involves practical learning and repeated practice to acquire specific abilities related to a particular domain. Ola has been in winter sports, such as cross-country skiing and biathlon, for over 20 years. Initially, as an active athlete and nowadays as a high-level coach, he has honed his skills in these disciplines.

    WHO IS TOMMY LUNDBERG?
    Tommy's past and intended future long-term research related to the control and regulation of skeletal muscle mass and function. More specifically, in contexts such as sports performance, disease, and aging, Tommy is interested in how human skeletal muscle responds and adapts to increased or decreased use. His general competence area is human physiology and sports science, with specific expertise in exercise physiology. Tommy is currently teaching an activity 50% of the full-time. The teaching activities refer mainly to the Degree programs in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Biomedical Analytics at the Karolinska Institutet. He is also the course leader for a contract education course in Advanced Exercise Physiology and a teacher at the Ph.D. course "Writing Science and Information Literacy".

    WHO IS MARCEL DA CRUZ?
    Marcel has a Masters's degree in Sports Science and has been active as a Strength and Conditioning coach for over 20 years. He works primarily with athletes in speed, strength & motor skills. Marcel has also worked extensively with different kinds of rehabilitation - from muscle/tendon to nerve injuries. He has lectured for several courses for personal trainers and basic to advance methods for the Norwegian Track & Field association and not least, the Norwegian tennis association.

    Marcel is a former top athlete with a high-level performance in Basketball, Track & Field, and Football. He has worked in the fitness industry since 1996. Marcel works also as a Performance Coach when he is not traveling with Casper at Magnat Performance Center.

    High Performance Evolution - David Tenney, High Performance Director Austin FC, MLS

    Welcome to The byrizz Rehab & Performance Podcast episode number 21. In this episode, I speak to Dave Tenney. Tenney is today the High-Performance Director of Austin FC playing in the Major League Soccer, USA. Before joining Austin FC in their 2021 expansion year, he spent time in high-performance leadership roles with the Orlando Magic (2017–2020) and the Seattle Sounders (2009–2017).

    Tenney joined Orlando Magic after nine seasons (2009-17) with the Seattle Sounders, serving as High-Performance Director for the 2017 season after previous stints as Sports Science & Performance Manager (2015-16) and Head Fitness Coach (2009-14). While with the Sounders, the team won MLS Cup in 2016, the U.S. Open Cup four times between 2009-12, and made the MLS Playoffs in nine consecutive years from 2009 to 17. During his time in Seattle, Tenney created the Sounders Sports Science Summit, which has become a leading sports science conference. Before joining the Sounders, Tenney served as both Fitness and Goalkeeper coach with Sporting Kansas City (then known as the Kansas City Wizards) for two seasons back in 2007 - 2008.

    Tenney earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Science-performance enhancement from the California University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in Coaching Science from George Mason University. He is currently finishing his Ph.D. in Organizational Development and Leadership from Ashford University.

    Welcome to The byrizz Rehab & Performance Podcast episode number 20. In this episode, I speak to Marco Altini. ​Marco is a scientist and developer mainly working at the intersection between health, technology, and performance. He has a Ph.D. in Data Science and an MSc in Computer Science Engineering as well as another MSc in Human Movement Sciences, with a specialization in High-Performance Coaching.

    Marco started HRV4Training in 2012, making it a tool that is today trusted by more than 150 000, including Olympic medalists and professional teams. HRV4Training is a mobile platform using advanced signal processing and data analytics to measure physiology and quantify stress, helping athletes of all levels to better balance training and lifestyle stressors to improve performance. 

    Marco is currently working with product development of the HRV4 Training app and research (clinical studies, insights, new features development from user-generated data, and large scale data analysis) as well as producing and delivering educational material on the topic of HRV, stress, and performance. He is also a guest lecturer at Vrije University in Amsterdam where he teaches at the Physiology Section of the Department of Human Movement Sciences.
