Recruited from Horsham, Doug Wade played 208 games for Geelong booting an extraordinary 834 goals over an illustrious 12-year career at Kardinia Park. A Geelong Team of the Century member, Doug played in the 1963 premiership and booted a season-high 127 goals in 1969. Sadly, he departed the club for North Melbourne at the end of the 1972 season, playing a further 59 games for 223 goals and becoming just one of five players to surpass the 1000-goal mark. Doug was a member of North Melbourne’s inaugural premiership side in 1975, although he will always be remembered as one of the greatest Cats of all time.
