Mrs. Williams, her son Kirk, and the other core members who had sworn to destroy the cult are meeting to discuss what to do. One of them, Albert, manages to identify the cult by comparing its activities to an all but forgotten faith. This long dead religion held its ceremonies underground.

Kirk informs his mother that another woman was found dead, apparently after giving birth. Yet, the doctors are positive that she was never pregnant. It makes little sense, but he believes it is related to the cultists they have been pursuing.

Michael hitches a ride into town with his mother and aunt in order to visit Julie, a close friend of his cousin Jennifer. After they part ways, Mrs. Williams spots the two women and confronts them in the street, publicly accusing them of being responsible for the death in the forest.

During a hunting trip in the mountains with his cousin Zach, Donald's oldest son Michael is given a demonstration of the other's cruelty. At the same time, a state trooper, Kirk the son of Mrs. Williams, is following up on a lead. He discovers the body of a woman who had been missing for several weeks deep within the forest.

A young woman flees through the forest, only to be seized and dragged once more into the coal mine. Meanwhile, the Joyce family (Donald and Michelle; their children Michael, Elizabeth, and Thomas; and Elizabeth’s friend Brooke) are traveling north to Pennsylvania for an extended vacation.
