    Hudson Rose

    Hudson Rose

Hudson joined me on the phone the day after her Debut Single was Released " Never See Me Cry" ,

The story of Hudson Rose starts with a girl, a guitar and a dream.

Just three years ago, the young singer-songwriter picked up the guitar to explore her love of singing, writing and country pop.

It wasn’t long before she was gigging up and down the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, leaving audiences captivated by her strong vocals and emotive performances of originals and covers.

Her stage, or should we say ‘street’ presence, impressed judges of the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival’s busking competition – where she was chosen out of hundreds to perform on the festival’s main stage as a part of the top 10.

Returning to the festival a year later she booked more shows than ever including a support slot for Queensland band Homegrown.

In 2020, Hudson Rose performed her first headline show in her hometown of Wingham and live streamed performances including supporting Rai Thistlethwayte (Thirsty Merc). She also graduated from the Talent and Development Program, which offered her high-profile music industry support and mentoring to hone her recording and performance skills.

Hudson Rose is now gearing up for her October debut single release ‘Never See Me Cry’.

For fans of Kelsea Ballerini, Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, Brad Cox and Melanie Dyer – Hudson Rose’s relatable songs could just be what you are looking for, for your next playlist.

At just 18 years old Hudson Rose is an impressive new voice on the country music scene in Australia and one to watch as her story unfolds

The Mezcaltones - Mexican Hillbilly Surf Music - interview

The Mezcaltones - Mexican Hillbilly Surf Music - interview

Col from the band Joined John in the studio to chat all thing Mezcaltones and the 3rd Release " Mexican hillbilly Surf Music "

The band's third album finds them at the top of their game with brilliantly written and played originals along with a tasteful selection of covers lifted from their live set. Recorded and mixed in just over a week at Damien Gerard's new expanded studios on the Central Coast, the album stands as their most cohesively accessible and sonically pleasing to date.

And now to the band - Just what is it about the Mezcaltones-
Four guys dressed as cowboys and two women dressed like Spanish Mexican Senoritas that you might find in a Quentin Tarantino movie - two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer a Crazy front man and a beautiful dancer/percussionist.  Whilst their original songs have an alt country flavour with rich Cowboy guitar sounds reminiscent of another century the guitar tones also reach into the realms of 60’s surf instrumentals
