A Few Problems
I listen to this when the topic peaks my interest. As a Canadian, the CBC is one of my resources it keep up with news and current events, so it makes sense that I would check out this podcast, but there are definitely issues. 1. Like many other people, I am very angry about the advertisements. Come on CBC, you know that if you had advertisements on the radio, Canada would revolt. We may be polite but we aren’t door mats. You think sneaking them in to podcasts is the work around? You are publicly funded; get rid of the ads. I am sure EVERYONE is sick of listening to Danny DeVito! As soon as we hear it we press our magic fast forward button. Just stop the hassle for us. 2. Who is in charge of writing the subject for each podcast? Do they understand capitalization and punctuation? It is an embarrassment to our nation that half the time there is no capitalization in the headings. 3. The hosts voice is not really a great radio voice but I can get past that if she would stop interrupting and also stop being so incredibly biased. I get frustrated when I want to know what the guest was going to say but never find out because they are cut off with an opinionated comment. All that being said, I will listen when the subject is of interest.

The Current is a worthy successor to Morningside & This Country In the morning. Not even Morning Edition can touch this.

CBC receives 2 billion plus from taxpayers, also makes its own money on top. 25 plus podcasts, with 1-2 or even 3 paid actors. These “free” podcasts have cost Canadians over 60 dollars for each man woman and child per year, or over 300 per avg family. Then gives this “free” (CDN taxpayer paid)...Read full review »
