Pure spam and scam
Just a platform to promote and constantly push a relentless stream of product, both from the host and a parade of fellow grifters and shills he has on the show. I get that some marketing is necessary to cut through in a crowded marketplace but this constant selling of books and other merchandise is nothing but an exercise in monetising the ancient art of stoic philosophy. This guy will pretty much shill anything or anyone for a buck and I thought the hustlers over on the minimalists podcast were the champion hucksters but nothing compares to the so called daily stoic. So if you want a non stop serving of self aggrandising shallow sales pitch about how amazing Ryan holliday is and how he has somehow discovered new insights and takes on the totally freely available works of the stoics then feel free to sign up for this shillfest although nothing is free in his world folks. Otherwise borrow or otherwise freely obtain the books and writings of the stoic thinkers and philosophers over the centuries and work it out for yourself. This guy isn’t offering anything new or insightful, just a grab bag of cliches and recycled maxims designed to do nothing but deposit money into his bank account. Don’t waste your time on it all.

The best. The only podcast I try to listen to every day. Honestly wish there was less sales pitches for their products but I understand that’s how they make money for the podcast and blog.

I’ve been reading and practicing the Stoic philosophy of right thought and right action for the past 3 years. This podcast is a great compendium to my reading and practice.
