“Yes, it’s terrifying and entertaining. Great spooky stories, quite a few of which are seriously scary, and all of which are very well written and wonderfully read. The reading is expressive but not overdramatic, and Kevin’s natural talent as a narrator definitely comes through. The background music fits the atmosphere, and it really adds extra depth to the storytelling without being distracting or getting annoying. Overall, this podcast is just all around very well done. It’s really easy to listen to, though by that I don’t mean that it’s not scary or that it isn’t engaging (it definitely is). I mean more that all the pieces are so well put together, and they combine to make an amazing finished show. It’s chilling and frightening, and somehow still pleasant to listen to- in a deliciously shivery spooky kind of way. •-~-•-~-•-~-•-~-•-~-•-~-•-~-• Also, I listen to a lot of different spooky podcasts, and if you do too then you’ll know that there’s a lot of variation in podcasting style. Like I say, I listen to a lot and I do like different shows with different styles. Personally though, I find that I tend to prefer a polished, straightforward sort of podcast style (like this) with less improvisation, banter, conversation, rambling, etc. in general. I like written stories being read rather than people telling stories off the top of their head, and I’m not a big fan of half of every show being radio DJ style chatter. Actually, WNTTAG is about the cutoff for how much unscripted I can tolerate in a show- I love WNTTAG, but I can’t listen to more than a couple of episodes before I catch myself starting to mentally check out. For this reason, there are plenty of other shows that bore me to the point that I just can’t listen- don’t get me wrong, I’m sure a lot of them are great, but I am just absolutely not interested in the slightest. Anyway, this is much more my style, and I’m loving it.”
