“Cutting right to the chase—I’m 24 years old with $123K in dumb debt of all kinds, ranging from student loans to a car to credit cards. I grew up hearing Dave’s show sporadically on the radio but didn’t really get familiar with his message until a relative gifted me Total Money Makeover for Christmas during my junior year of college.
I didn’t actually read the book until the following summer and while it got me to reevaluating everything about my financial outlook, I stupidly applied nothing I learned (thinking that surely I was exempt from these principles)—that is until God put a fire under my tail last month via falling behind 60 days on several of my co-signed student loans (which put a serious strain on several of my familial relationships).
Having reached my breaking point with hiding from my mountain of debt and doing nothing to generate income to knock it down, I started streaming TDRS last month and man has it made me hungry to get my ish together! Love his old-school, non-nonsense approach that’s grounded in accountability and promotes self empowerment. I went from making nothing and somehow still overspending to proudly getting my hustle on between 3 jobs and keeping an airtight budget thanks to Every Dollar.
I’ve never been more optimistic about my prospects of inching toward debt freedom and look forward to making the trek to Franklin, TN for my debt free scream in 2021!!”
