The guests and stories are all inspiring, whether it's because of the humanism or because of the accomplishments. These episodes have some truly remarkable people. Very impressed over here.Read full review »

The hosts are so in touch with humanity. From their questions you can tell that they care deeply about the patients they see. Even though one of them is just a resident, it's still clear that medicine was the right choice for him. We need more doctors like this."Read full review »

Looks like this show is in its second year but it's quite impressive who they've managed to talk to. The conversations are fairly high quality though I did wish the audio quality was more consistent (I know it's sometimes not the show's fault but still). Hope the hosts continue...Read full review »

Not really gonna add much new to what's been said here, but just wanted to add my support to this outstanding work. As I understand it, this show doesn't run ads or make money in any way, so it's all the more remarkable that the producers have kept it going. Fantastic stuff, and thank...Read full review »

Found this podcast not too long ago but am now rummaging through this treasure trove of great content. I love the patient stories and the sheer diversity of voices from all across medicine. And even some outside of medicine, like journalists and philosophers and faith leaders. A+ to the hosts.

… I hope my doctors are listening to this podcast, for their own sanity and inspiration. And I’d like to do a better job making meaning in my own profession, which is music. It’s funny how music can become mechanical if I don’t “nurture [my] sense of wonder so it’s always ahead of [my] craft,” as...Read full review »

Just a fantastic and inspiring story of the med school student who discovered and cured his own disease. I can’t wait to listen to the other podcasts!

This is one of my favorite podcasts! I’ve worked in healthcare marketing and communications most of my career and truly enjoy the stories, camaraderie and insights. Each episode provides a nice mix of thought-provoking questions, humor and empathy. I’ve recommended it to my colleagues, family and...Read full review »

I’m taking the MCAT next April and have been following y’all for close to a year; I love the content. I have to say though, the most recent show “purposeful rest” I would’ve appreciated some constructive dialogue, or an elaboration on why the host feels medicine is sexist/patriarchical. I don’t...Read full review »

This is a very well done show on storytelling in medicine. There are other podcasts on patient stories, but none quite like this, which blends together moving stories with a discussion of what makes medicine meaningful, along with practical advice for doctors who are listening.

As someone who is considering going into medicine I’ve learnt about so many issues and aspects of becoming a doctor that I was never aware of before.

The title is both of an episode and of a stance. This podcast series recognizes medicine as a moral art, intrinsically imbued with meaning that is beyond technological expertise. Wonder if Chatbots will replace doctors? Not doctors like those in the episodes! Grateful for wisdom in an age of...Read full review »

I haven't come across a podcast that does storytelling in medicine as well as this one. It's truly important work. I advise many medical students and premeds and have been recommending them this show as they think about what they want out of a medical career.Read full review »

Listened to episode with the NAM president and was impressed how much the hosts got him to talk about his personal experiences. It's valuable to hear how much he struggled during his career despite now being literally one of the most important and notable physician leaders in America.Read full review »

Came across this recent episode with Arghavan Salles and it's amazing. She talks about the not-so-glamorous aspects of a medical career particularly through a DEI lens, and it's not until I heard this that I realized how uncommon these conversations happen. She's right, medical...Read full review »

What is most impressive about this show is that many episodes are not only for doctors, but for anyone who experiences/has experienced the pain of losing a loved one, the suffering that comes from a terrible diagnosis, the existential uncertainty of what living and dying all means, and the hope...Read full review »

I was blown away by the episode with Wes Ely. Over the course of an hour, he shares stories that brought me to tears several times. He talks about his approach to patient care as a "burnout solution" and as a resident, I couldn't agree more. I'm convinced that no doctor who sees...Read full review »

While occasionally an episode will really blow you away, like the episode with David Kessler the grief expert, some episodes can be kinda dry. Not sure if it's because of the guest or the hosts. The quality consistency can be improved.Read full review »

The Nov 29 episode with the nurse is simply incredible. This nurse comforts patients in ways I have never seen from other healthcare providers. How I wish all nurses and doctors could learn from her, and how I wish all patients had the privilege of being cared for by someone like her. Please keep...Read full review »

Incredible, powerful, thoughtful stories that heal, whether you are experiencing grief and death, burnout, imposter syndrome, illness, big life decisions, or any of the other difficult moments and emotions in a medical world.

Recent studies have repeatedly found that at least half of all doctors in America experience burnout, finding their work meaningless. This is a shocking statistic. I, like the hosts of this show, believe that helping people find hope and solace in life's darkest moments can be profoundly...Read full review »
