Riveting, maddening, compelling story
This podcast is really a long radio news stories broken out into a few chapters, one released each week. It is focused and polished. It isn't your typical podcast designed to go on forever. I followed the Thernos from the early days, when Elizabeth Holmes was first hitting magazine covers. Then the Wall Street Journal articles. Then John Carreyrou's book "Bad Blood" (I highly recommend it). So I was already familiar with the content of the story. But hearing the players in this story in their own voices, along with the emotion in their voices, adds another dimension. If you haven't read "Bad Blood", be prepared to be stunned by how many powerful men (I think they were all men) could be so fooled for so long. You'll be angry by the tactics of powerful lawyers -- seriously, these guys are nothing but thugs with law degrees. But you might also be a little sad. I believed in the vision - constantly measuring your own blood chemistry through a low-cost device and a small amonut of blood to understand so many things about your body. This would open up so many doors. But a desire is not a plan, and just wishing something does not make it true. If you enjoy stories about business, especially startups trying to disrupt an industry, medicine, or con men and women, I think you will enjoy this podcast.Read full review »
