Pretentious bros talk about books and beer
I like books. I like beer. I do not like this podcast… even though I really wanted it to be a good find. While there is some good commentary about the books, it’s hard to get beyond the dudes’ pretentiousness and cringey jokes that inevitably come up in every episode. I gave it a try - lots of tries actually, with many of my favorite books - but I just couldn’t endure their personalities anymore. And while I enjoy solid beer recommends, it’s not super fun to hear people talk about random beer that they are currently drinking. It’s not like I ran to the store to grab the same six packs that the podcast hosts are drinking. Listening to them describe the random NY beers they consume became unbearable. Try Overdue for a more approachable and enjoyable podcast about literary discussion.

These guys know their books just as well as they know their beer. And as they get drunker, the literary analysis gets better (and they get funnier too). Great show!
